Derwin Maness
President and Co-owner
Derwin has nearly thirty years of experience in the roofing industry. After graduating from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, he began his roofing career working with one of the nation’s largest roofing contractors. Derwin spent more than decade gaining valuable experience in residential and commercial roofing before establishing Roofwerks in 2006. With his passion for quality roofing and customer service, Derwin has grown Roofwerks into North Carolina’s premier roofing company.
When he’s not in the office, Derwin loves spending time with his wife Tracy, daughter Jordan, and son Ben. He also enjoys cheering on the Tar Heels and playing an occasional round of golf.
Will Hayes
Vice-President and Co-owner
Will has more than twenty years of experience in the roofing industry. After graduating from Wake Forest University, he began his career in the accounting department in one of North Carolina’s largest commercial roofing companies. He quickly transitioned into sales and management positions where he gained deep knowledge of residential and commercial roofing. He established Roofwerks in 2006 after seeing a need in the market for a professional residential roofing contractor with an unparalleled commitment to customer service and quality craftsmanship.
Under Will’s leadership, Roofwerks has become the premier roofing company in North Carolina. His entrepreneurial drive has helped sustain the company’s continued growth and develop Roofwerks into an industry leader. In his spare time, Will enjoys spending time with his wife Alston, son Wilson, and daughter Dorothy. He also enjoys playing tennis or chartering a boat and doing a little fishing.
Holly Bowers
Executive Vice President
Holly has more than 17 years of experience in the construction and real estate industry. For the past decade, she has overseen every aspect of Roofwerks’ operations. Holly’s dedication and passion is one of the driving forces behind Roofwerks’ success. She loves all aspects of design, but her true passion is providing customers with a positive experience and the peace of mind that comes from making a sound investment in their roof. In her spare time, Holly enjoys flipping real estate and spending time with her daughter.
Amy Appleford
Inside Repair Project Manager
Amy lives with her husband, Geoff and two kids GJ and Kaylee. Amy is an avid reader and enjoys spending time with her family. We are excited to welcome Amy back after 2 years away while she stayed home to raise her two kids. Amy has over 10 years experience in Roofing and Construction.
Matt Basnett
Department Head/Commercial
Matt and his wife, Sabrina live in Raleigh. Matt is our resident artist and enjoys painting in his free time when he’s not working on projects around the house. Several of his pieces are on display in our office. He is originally from West Virginia and enjoys getting back to the farm to visit family and hunt. Matt has over 20 years in the roofing industry. He has seen all aspects of the roofing business. In addition to Estimating, Matt is Chair of Roofwerks’ Safety Committee.
Gary Clay
Multi-Family Replacement Manager
Gary has worked in the roofing industry for more than 12 years. He is highly skilled at working with a variety of roofing materials — from shingles to skylights — and is dedicated to ensuring that each customer gets the best quality roof system. Gary’s integrity and loyalty speak volumes about who he is as person. His hobbies include kayak fishing.
Seth Coats
Gutter Manager
Seth has been quite the “catch” here at Roofwerks. A specialist in gutters, Seth’s the person you want to assist you on your home. His knowledge of water diversion and woodworking make him a unique tool in Roofwerks toolbox of talent. In his free time, Seth enjoys fishing, and spending time with his wife and three children.
Edward Davis
Department Head/Residential Replacement
With more than 25 years of experience in the residential roofing industry, Edward is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our Residential Re-Roof division and sales staff. He has a wealth of roofing knowledge and experience in the Raleigh roofing market. As a graduate of NC State, Edward enjoys cheering on the Wolfpack, playing golf, and spending time with his wife Angela and their son, Christian.

With more than five years of experience at Roofwerks, Roberto manages re-roofing projects and makes sure customers are fully satisfied with the finished product. He is dependable, hardworking, smart, and strives to handle any issues quickly and efficiently. During his free time, you can find Roberto working out at the gym.

Ted has worked in the roofing industry for nearly 20 years. A certified inspector, Ted plays a hybrid role, working with project management, quality control and sales all within the Roofwerks residential department. He’s detailed-oriented, driven and an optimist, loyal to providing the best service to customers. When not working, Ted is a father, and a husband, has two dogs, and enjoys golf, woodworking, and hiking.
William Honeycutt
Coatings Division Manager / Commercial Department
William has nearly thirty years of experience in construction sales and project management. He prides himself on attention to detail and building relationships with his customers. William enjoys working with to customers to identify the best roofing options at the best price. He is trustworthy and values the relationships he forms with each customer. Family is a priority for William. He enjoys spending time with his wife Brenda and their children, Preslee and Brooks. Away from work, you may spot William out on the golf course or with a fishing pole in his hand.
Jill Hunt
Inside Residential Replacement Project Manager
Jill has nearly twenty years of management experience in the roofing, construction, and real estate industries. With a talent for problem-solving and organizing, Jill keeps everything at Roofwerks running smoothly. She is dedicated to keeping our customers and employees happy. When she is not working, Jill enjoys spending time with her family and lab, Sawyer, who can all be found enjoying the beach whenever possible! She also loves to support her niece and nephews by volunteering with their local community theater group.
Kerry Jarrell
Head of Operations
With nearly twenty years of experience, Kerry understand all aspects of the roofing business. He is dedicated to working with homeowners and property managers, from start to finish, to address all of their roofing needs. On his days off, you can often find Kerry out on the lake fishing.
Jody Jones
Senior Project Manager
Jody has nearly thirty years of roofing experience. He has spent more than a decade directly overseeing all aspects of day-to-day commercial roofing operations. Jody is committed to helping our team provide customers with quality service and installation of all roofing products in a timely manner. He enjoys spending time with his wife Heather, son Dylan, and daughter Abigail.
Fred Medlin
Roofing Consultant / Residential Replacement Department
With more than 25 years of experience in the sales industry, Fred is a people person who enjoys getting to know his customers well. He makes sure that customers get exactly what they are looking for and what they need in a quality roof. Fred is funny, loyal, and thoughtful. On his days off, he enjoys a game of baseball and spending time with his family.

Julie Mock, a Business Management graduate from NC State, brings her expertise to Roofwerks, where she excels in customer service. With a passion for photography, Julie balances her professional life with capturing moments through her lens. She’s a dedicated mother of three and proud owner of four dogs, embodying commitment both at work and at home.
Alvaro Padron
Repair Project Manager
Alvaro lives in Sanford with his wife, Darlene and their two kids, Avaro and Fernanda Alvaro is one of the longest tenured employees at Roofwerks. He has progressed from a Roofing Foreman to be promoted to a Senior Project Manager in the Repair Department. and has over 10 years experience. Alvaro grew up in Sanford and enjoys playing soccer and Volleyball. Alvaro led a Roofwerks’ sponsored soocer team to the Liga union Latina de Sanford Championship.
Darlene Padron
Inside Repair Project Manager
Darlene joined Roofwerks from the automotive industry. She’s an expert in team management and multi-tasking. At Roofwerks, Darlene schedules crews to job sites, creates work orders, and prepares invoices for customers. Her organizational skills, ability to manage resources, and planning knowledge, make her a team asset. When not working, Darlene enjoys reading a good book, and being a mom to her two children.
John Sawyer
Project Manager
Roofwerks is thrilled to welcome back John Sawyer, who rejoins us as a new Project Manager. John originally joined Roofwerks in 2006 and dedicated 15 years to our team before departing in 2021. We are excited for his return, as he brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to excellence.
John attended UNC-Chapel Hill and has a strong background in sales, earning multiple regional, local, and company-wide awards. He believes in treating people fairly and with respect, a principle that guides his work. As Project Manager, John will oversee residential roofing projects from sale to completion.
Outside of work, John enjoys golf, basketball, coaching youth sports, and spending time with his wife of 36 years and their three children. Friendly, grateful, and determined, John’s return is a great asset to the Roofwerks team.

Mark lives in Raleigh with his wife, Cathy. Mark and Cathy enjoy camping and spend many weekends at our local parks. Mark brings over 20 years experience in the Roofing Industry and a vast array of knowledge of many different roofing systems.
Jon Strickland
Specialty Roofing Manager
Jon has more than twenty years of experience in construction and roofing. He is extremely knowledgeable about a variety of roofing materials, including slate, tile, and copper. Jon collaborates with every department at Roofwerks, overseeing the management and quality control of our metal, slate, tile and cedar roofing applications. His mission: ensure every job meets Roofwerk’s high standards. When he’s not at work, Jon enjoys a good game of darts.
Ben Sturkie
Quality Control Specialist/Project Manager
Ben has been in roofing production management for more than 7 years, overseeing roof installments, ordering materials, performing inspections, and repairs. He prides himself on ensuring the highest quality of installation while assisting in product management and sales. Detail-oriented, Ben resolves potential issues that arise with projects. An avid fisherman and hunter, Ben also enjoys spending time with his wife and daughters.

Nat Taylor, Sales Consultant at Roofwerks, brings extensive roofing and exterior renovation experience to the table. Customer-focused and safety-oriented, Nat excels in delivering top-notch service. A team player by nature, he collaborates seamlessly to achieve project goals. In his free time, Nat enjoys playing ultimate frisbee and recording music.

Jose lives in Raleigh with his wife, Sara and their two kids Lily and Jaden. Away from work, Jose can be found on just about any soccer field around the triangle area. He plays outdoor soccer, indoor soccer, and Futsal. He also enjoys running. Jose has over 10 years experience in Roofing.
